Happy Midwinter
Friends, family, good music, excellent food, fellowship

Many good wishes

and cake!

It really doesn't get much better than this.

Absent friends were missed and remembered. The family friendly earlier time slot worked quite well.
Big thanks go to all those that helped out, brought stuff along and had an excellent time.

There was a lot of yummy cake, apple cake, cheese cake, self-saucing chocolate pudding of doom, and awesome apple pies. So much yum. But the cake in the photo above was definately the most impressive looking one.

You guy were greatly missed. I did mention that it was nice that it wasn't Gail who was sick for a change, which I'm sure you understand. But I hope you get better soon. And I'll send some candied chocolate fruit home with Gail on Wednesday if I remember :)

Yeah, I was pretty annoyed to miss it, I don't think I have missed one for years. Thanks for the thoughts! I can't believe my toe is being such a bastard to the rest of me!

This!
So sorry we missed it, but the Tomble was really unwell, and I didn't want to leave him. That's part of what being together means! He spends so much time looking after me it would have been so horribly selfish to ignore him when he needed it.

Party was much fun.

I think we left a big banana stubbie holder there somewhere. :)

I'm happy for you! It looks like it was a wonderful night. If I wasn't working I'd have loved to share it. A happy midwinter to you, and a toast raised to the walk towards warmer weather.:)

I think Thorfy left behind his beanie and we might have also left behind a plastic container with blue clips on the lid. Oh dear, will have to see you again to collect them!

Is it too early to ask about dates for midsummer? It may affect my travel plans. I don't suppose you could have it on the 18th so I can make teardown for Varekai in Moscow?

You know if you google for Midsummer dates, you tend to get dates for gay festivals :)

Okay - website I trust has Midsummer on the 22nd Dec. That is a Tuesday, so not such a good day for a party.

19th is the Saturday which would probably be my preference and easier for many of those people travelling.

Why the 18th? Is that a latest date or an earlier date? Happy to negotiate, but have definate preference for a weekend, rather than a weeknight.

Varekai closes in Moscow on the 20th, so teardown would start then. 19th means I can be on a plane on the evening of the 20th our time, be in Moscow ready for work on the 21st their time... that will probably work. If I leave it much later then that, there's no point doing the gig. Ideally Midsummer would be the 18th so I could be on a plane on the 19th, but one extra day is fine.

The advantage of having a party on the Saturday for me is that people aren't tired after being at work all day Friday, I get Saturday to do a nice relaxed party set up and people who are flying from interstate, NZ etc can fly in Friday night, Saturday morning and not be too rushed.

That said, having you guys there is pretty important to me, so I'm happy to negotiate if the 19th doesn't work.

Is the 19th okay? I'm happy to drive you to the airport nice and early the next morning :)
